Class: UXDG 360 – Information Architecture (Spring 2025)
Tools Used: Figma
Focus: UX Design, Information Architecture, Wireframing, E-Commerce Optimization, Team Collaboration
Project Overview:
For our capstone project in Information Architecture, we worked in teams to analyze, restructure, and redesign the user experience of a real local Savannah-based e-commerce site. Our team—Team Bark—chose a pet-related online business with the goal of improving usability, visual hierarchy, and customer flow.
Team Bark
My Role:
As a designer on the team, I contributed to:
Content auditing and mapping out the existing IA
Sketching early wireframes and proposing layout revisions
Designing in Figma, focusing on navigation flow, mobile responsiveness, and visual balance
The Process:
We began with a full heuristic evaluation of the current website, identifying pain points such as cluttered navigation, unclear CTAs, and inconsistent layout structure. Then we reorganized the site’s information hierarchy to better align with user needs, reducing decision fatigue and improving product discovery.
Using Figma, we built out a full redesigned prototype with an improved homepage, product pages, and checkout flow.
Reflection:
This project taught me how foundational information architecture is to a smooth and enjoyable user experience. Working with a real-world website helped me bridge theory with practice, and collaborating in a team environment showed me how to advocate for ideas while staying flexible to feedback. It also strengthened my confidence in Figma and applying layout systems to real e-commerce challenges.
